‘Slime beer’ among Vault City’s Marvellous Liquids

Vault City have launched their most extreme range to date, featuring a vivid green ‘slime beer’, tongue-numbing citrus sours, and what they describe as their sharpest release.

Vault City Marvellous Liquids

The Marvellous Liquids series pushes flavour, texture, and sensation to the limit, with beers designed to be “slime-thick”, face-scrunchingly sour, and packed with weird and wonderful twists.

Standout releases include Splendiferous Slime (5% ABV), a bright green, thick-bodied sour with a deliberately slime-like texture, and Numbing Nectar (4.9% ABV), a Szechuan-inspired beer designed to create a tingling, mouth-numbing sensation.

The limited-edition range is inspired by nostalgic sweet-shop flavours and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and marks the latest evolution of one of Vault City’s most talked-about concepts.

These are also among the first releases from the brewery’s new large-scale site at BioCampus, in Edinburgh, giving the team greater capacity to experiment with small-batch, high-impact beers.

“We wanted to take everything people loved about Marvellous Liquids and turn it up,” said Vault City co-founder Steven Smith-Hay. “More texture, more intensity, and more of those unexpected sensory moments.

“This range is exactly what Vault City is all about. Pushing boundaries and having fun with flavour, whether that’s something slime-thick, face-scrunchingly sour, or completely unexpected on the palate.

“A lot of our beers are accessible, especially to those who aren’t typical beer drinkers. These flavours in particular could be the golden ticket for people who want to go all in on sour.”

What’s in the new Marvellous Liquids range?

Splendiferous Slime (5% ABV)
A vivid green sour blending apple, kiwi, and lime. Thick-bodied with a signature slime-like texture and balanced tartness.

Brainmelting Fluid (6.8% ABV)
Vault City’s sharpest beer to date. Lemon, lime, raspberry, and sherbet combine for an intense, face-scrunching sour hit.

Numbing Nectar (4.9% ABV)
A citrus-forward sour with lime and orange, finished with sansho berry and Szechuan peppercorn for a tingling, mouth-numbing effect.

Face Froster (8% ABV)
A high-strength sour featuring blueberry and honeyberry, finished with a cool menthol edge.

All four beers are vegan-friendly and packaged in 440ml cans. The range is available in limited quantities via Vault City’s website and selected stockists.
