Mason Brewing Co is one of six UK breweries chosen to collaborate with Australian breweries for the launch of Aus Fest 2026.

Mason Defying Gravity

They have teamed up with Brisbane’s Aether Brewing for the first ever edition of the festival, creating Defying Gravity — an 8.2% ABV double IPA brewed in Cornwall as a virtual international collaboration.

The beer will feature at all three Aus Fest events taking place over the next two months, with stops at Northern Monk Refectory in Manchester, St Monday Brewery in London, and Moor Beer in Bristol.

Organised by BarthHaas and Brewers Select, Aus Fest is a new beer and music-led festival celebrating the energy, creativity, and culture driving modern independent brewing.

Bringing together some of the UK and Australia’s most exciting breweries, the festival focuses on using Australian hops in fresh collaborations, cutting-edge beer, and the community around it.

“We’re massively proud to be representing Cornwall as part of the first Aus Fest,” said Mike Mason, founder of Mason Brewing Co. “The festival is all about collaboration, creativity, and modern beer culture, so it felt like the perfect fit for us.

“Working virtually with Aether Brewing on Defying Gravity has been brilliant, and to see a beer brewed here in Cornwall pouring at events alongside some incredible breweries from the UK and Australia is pretty special.”

Defying Gravity is a bold, juicy double IPA, packed with tropical hop character, soft bitterness and a full-bodied finish — brewed to stand out in a line-up built around boundary-pushing beer.

And while the festival is taking the collaboration across the country, Cornish beer fans can get hold of it closer to home, too. Limited-edition cans of Defying Gravity are available now from the Mason Brewing Co taproom and online store, as well as at Red Elephant Beer Cellar in Truro.
