Brewlab announce two upcoming courses

Brewlab have announced that their Certificate in Practical Brewing, a three-week professional development course, will be running from 3rd to 21st August.

The course is ideal for everyone, from beginners to homebrewers, through to those working in commercial breweries. Along with gaining the accredited Brewlab Certificate in Practical Brewing, participants will also acquire many elements of the knowledge required to undertake the internationally recognised IBD General Certificate Examination.

The course features the opportunity to design and brew recipes from scratch on specialised small-scale development kits. On the Certificate course, there are two full practical brew days that enable students to put learning into action. It provides a fundamental understanding of topics such as liquor calculations and recipe formulation.

There will also be access to laboratory facilities. This will participants an opportunity to delve into the requirements of quality assurance in microbrewing, plating up and identifying beer characteristics at a microbiological level.

Students who attend this course will acquire the knowledge and skills to produce a wide variety of high-quality beers, brewed consistently. In addition, the commercial business elements of the training provide them with the frameworks for setting up and operating a successful brewing business.

In addition, a nine-week Diploma in British and International Brewing Technology is at Brewlab from 7th September until 6th November. The Diploma is a practical pathway into the brewing industry, weaving together all the strands required to become a professions brewer in one optimised course. It is suitable for anyone seeking advanced knowledge and skills to become a professional brewer, as well as for those looking to set up a commercial brewery.

With eight full practical brew days throughout the course, participants will fully familiarise themselves with the brewing process, as well as recipe formulations and liquor calculations. In addition, they will attend seven separate one-day placements at local microbreweries.
