Release of a big stout with a British heart

Beer Day Britain yesterday saw the launch of a new Vocation beer, Rooted Riches, a collaboration with maltsters French & Jupp.

Rooted Riches

It’s a 10% ABV British stout, built around a blend of British malts and Bramling Cross hops.

Rich chocolate and roasted malt sweetness form the backbone, layered with subtle jammy plum, dried fruit, blackcurrant, and gentle spice, before finishing with a hint of liquorice.

“Our collaboration with French & Jupps felt like a natural fit for Beer Day Britain, bringing together British brewing expertise, quality ingredients, and a shared appreciation for traditional stout styles with a modern twist,” said Rob Beck, head brewer at Vocation.

“The concept behind the beer was to create something that felt unmistakably British, both in ingredient choice and flavour profile. Alongside the malt-forward base, the stout incorporates subtle notes of plum, dried fruit, and a delicate hint of liquorice. Bramling Cross hops add soft blackcurrant notes and gentle spice, helping to balance the richness of the beer.

“The plum has been designed to sit subtly in the background rather than dominate, complementing the malt profile with soft jammy fruit character, while still allowing the roasted malt and smooth stout body to remain the hero of the beer.”
