Molson Coors has confirmed that Sharp’s Brewery, near Wadebridge, in Cornwall, will close by the end of the year with the loss of up to 40 jobs.
The news comes at the end of a consultation process which began at the start of the year. Molson Coors said alternative action had been investigated, but the site was no longer financially viable within its broader operations.
The company said changing consumer tastes and ongoing challenges facing the cask ale market had contributed to the decision.
Camerons Brewery is said to be a strategic partner for the brewing of some Sharp’s brand going forward.
