Introducing Hop Adventure ‘Centennial’

The USA is our next destination for the Hop Adventure Series with our brewers choosing ‘Centennial ‘ as the next the hop. The concept behind our Hop Adventure Series is quite simple really, we wanted to showcase some of our favourite and the most interesting hops from around the world. It is a great chance for us  to have some real fun with flavour’s and to open people’s eyes to the different hops which can be sourced from all over the world.

With this in mind we went about designing a beer that would allow the hops to display their full flavour and aroma. The beer’s style is a Single Hop India Pale Ale meaning one hop was used for bittering, aroma and several doses of dry-hopping.

The hop:

Centennial was developed in 1974 and released in 1990,  it sometimes referred to as super Cascade because of the  characteristics it shares with Cascade. Centennial is a seriously versatile hop with a depth of bitterness and forward aroma that are beyond belief/

 The brewing process:

Our head brewer reduced the amount of specialty malt typically used in a standard India Pale Ale as the centennial hops take the driving seat in this beer, and display their full aroma and flavor.
The style is a single hop India Pale Ale, meaning exclusively the centennial hop was used for bittering and aroma.

Appearance:
Light golden colour with a slight haze and a white head.

Aroma:

Rich aromas of citrus fruits, mango and peach.

The taste:

Perfectly balanced flavours of citrus and mango fruits carry through from the first sip, ending with a satisfying crisp grapefruit bite. The dry hopping process ensures flavours and aroma are prolonged and lasting.

The menu combo:

This IPA works incredibly well with fish dishes, salmon, poultry, Thai Green Curry and cheddar cheese.
