An Exeter brewer has spoken of their pride in reaching the final judging of this year’s Champion Beer of Britain (CBOB) competition.

Exeter Avocet

Among the shortlisted brews at Cambridge Beer Festival last week was Avocet, a popular golden organic ale from Exeter Brewery.

Light straw in colour, the 3.9% ABV beer combines light hoppy and toffee aromas with notes of mild fruit, vanilla and citrus.

The beer has already built an impressive record in competition, previously winning SIBA regional gold and CAMRA gold awards, as well as reaching the finals of CBOB.

“To see Avocet recognised again at this level is fantastic for everyone involved with the brewery,” said Alan Collyer, managing director of Exeter Brewery. “It has been one of our defining beers for many years, and continues to have a very loyal following.

“The Champion Beer of Britain awards are hugely respected within the industry, so reaching the finals is something we are extremely proud of.”

Founded in 2006, Exeter Brewery has become one of the South West’s best known independent breweries, producing a range of traditional and contemporary cask and keg beers and lagers supplied across Devon and beyond.
