The Royal Oak, Keswick, is entering a new chapter following the final phase of a £1.2 million transformation. The re-opening is perfectly timed for a standout year in the Lake District.

This year will see the return of the Keswick Mountain Festival, summer beer festivals, lakeside theatre, freshwater swims, and a much-loved Victorian Christmas.
The historic inn has 18 individually styled, redesigned bedrooms, with stylish new bathrooms, cosy corners beside roaring fires, and a bar serving Thwaites cask ale. There is also a restaurant serving hearty home-cooked food, made from locally-sourced ingredients.
“This marks the completion of a long-term investment in one of Keswick’s historic inns,” said Rick Bailey, executive chairman of owner Thwaites. “As a family-run hospitality business, Thwaites is proud to own The Royal Oak and to have invested in its future.
“Every stage has been about protecting the character of the building while ensuring it meets the expectations of today’s guests. The result is a space that feels both timeless and refreshed.”
