The 5th anniversary of our very first brew here at Howth Junction is 16th June, Bloomsday! So what better way to celebrate than with a Bloom beer – we were looking for a floral infusion to add a layer of flavour to a Belgian Tripel base beer. Anyone familiar with the hill of Howth will know the gorse is in full bloom at this time of year, turning the hill a bright yellow hue. With help from Nicole Dunne at Howth Foraging, we tracked down the juiciest gorse, picked in morning sunshine and concocted a delicious gorse cordial. This cordial was then added to the base beer towards the end of fermentation. The result is a deliciously floral Tripel, packing a punch at 8.8% ABV!

This beer is exclusive to our 5th Birthday Beer Box. There are only 20 boxes left so don’t delay and order yours!

Check out the gorse for yourself or give Shanes Howth Adventures, Howth Foragers or Hidden Howth Experiences a shout for some expert advice!
