Buffalo Charge, a 6% ABV American brown ale, has won its second major award in the space of a few weeks for Sheffield’s Little Critters Brewing Co.

Fresh from being named champion beer of Sheffield by CAMRA, it has been awarded best beer in the North East at SIBA’s Indie Beer Awards.

The Indie Beer Awards were judged at Brew York’s Beer Hall, in York, where the Indie Beer North East festival continues today and over the weekend. It features all of the winning beers, which are listed here.

“Our overall champion category sees all of the category winners across various beer styles battle it out to be named the ‘best of the best’,” said Anneli Baxter, chair of the Indie Beer Awards.

“And this year huge congratulations are due to Little Critters. Their Buffalo Charge was the standout beer of the competition with judges, from what was a hugely impressive final round. Massive well done to the Little Critters team and to all of this year’s medalists and category champions.

“I’d also like to say a huge thank you to the Brew York team for helping run such a fantastic awards judging and for giving beer drinkers in York the chance to taste all of this year’s winners in their superb Beer Hall over coming days. Get down and try them while you can!”

All of the category champions will now go forwards to the national finals of the Indie Beer Awards, at BeerX in Liverpool in March.
