United platform to support independent pubs

The Independent Pub Alliance (IPA) has launched, a collective bringing together independent publicans, hospitality workers, industry researchers and supporters. They share a growing concern that UK pubs and small hospitality businesses are being placed at a structural disadvantage.

Members believe that current economic conditions, taxation policy, and wider structural pressures are making it harder for independent venues, often at the heart of their communities, to survive and thrive.

The organisation has been created to provide a united platform for advocacy, collaboration, and practical support across the sector. The IPA aims to help secure the long-term sustainability of independent pubs and small hospitality operators, while championing their cultural, economic, and social importance.

“Independent pubs are far more than places to eat and drink,” said an IPA spokesperson. “They are social hubs, employers, cultural landmarks, and vital contributors to the UK’s identity and local economies.

“The Independent Pub Alliance has been formed to ensure the people who run and work in these venues have a stronger voice, better support, and a platform to influence meaningful change. The more members we have, the louder and more effective that voice becomes.”

As part of its launch, the IPA will introduce a range of exclusive, industry-specific benefits and discounts for members, designed to help reduce operating costs and improve business resilience in a challenging trading environment.

Membership is free. Find out more about the group here.
