Beer Today’s regular round-up of news in brief: new releases, venue openings, event announcements.

Good Chemistry Mic Drop

To celebrate 10 years of the East Bristol Brewery Trail, the seven participating breweries are teaming up to create three exclusive brews.

Good Chemistry have partnered with Little Martha, and the result is Mic Drop, a 5% ABV hop-forward Vienna IPA. Offering complex malt character, bright citrus, pine, and a satisfyingly bitter finish, it will be pouring at both brewers’ taprooms for the trail on 2nd and 3rd May.

Uley Hog's Wallop

One of Uley Brewery’s most popular specials is back for May Bank Holiday. Hog’s Wallop is a traditional IPA, brewed to 5.2%, and well hopped, with British and American varieties. It’s available to drink from today, but remember, it will only be around for a limited time.

Bearwood new beers

There’s a quartet of new beers from Bearwood Brewing. Zeddemore (5.5% ABV) is the brewer’s first ever pineapple sour; Peach Trees (8.2% ABV) is a double IPA hopped with New Zealand variety Peacherine; there’s a second round of the Accomplices series, this time featuring Citra and Nelson for notes of white grape, gooseberry, and passionfruit; and Recognizer, a 6.% AB NEIPA hopped with Citra, Nectaron, and Mosaic.

Newbarns Fruhlingsbier

Newbarns’ latest lager, Frühlingsbier, is a spring lager, coming in at 5% ABV. Brewed with East Lothian malt, it is lightly hopped with Calista. “A perfect beer to bridge the gap between winter and summer,” says the brewer.

Beer Hut Pines

For those who like their IPAs old school and unapologetically bitter, Beer Hut has released Between the Pines, a 6% ABV West Coast IPA. Bold, crisp, ad resinous, it’s bursting with sticky marmalade and zesty orange peel character. Dry-hopped with Centennial and Columbus, it delivers classic piney bitterness, balanced by bright citrus and a clean, dry finish.

• Independent London pub group Wren Pubs has appointed hospitality entrepreneur Rupert Clevely as non-executive chairman. Founded by Jack Greenall, Wren Pubs operates a growing portfolio of London sites, including The Carpenter’s Arms, The Walmer Castle, and The Surprise. The group recently announced it will open its fourth pub in Sloane Square, taking over the former Botanist site, later this year.

Clevely brings significant experience in building and scaling premium pub businesses. He founded Geronimo Inns in 1995, growing it into one of London’s leading food-led pub groups before its sale to Young’s. He later established Hippo Inns in partnership with Enterprise Inns, and has been involved in a number of other hospitality ventures, including as an early-stage investor and chairman of Pizza Pilgrims.
