TrAles of the Unexpected are organising a walking tour of Canterbury on International Beer Day, 7th August.

TrAles Unexpected

“My small company run ‘walking beer adventures’ in East Kent — we call them TrAles as they are a walk with beer,” founder and director Don Clark told Beer Today. “We do the history of the town/city we are in, with regular stops to enjoy (mainly) Kentish beers and ales.” Book for the Canterbury TrAle here.

Chouffe Cherry

Chouffe is accelerating its UK retail expansion with the nationwide launch of Chouffe Cherry in Co-op stores. With Chouffe Cherry delivering more than 50% year-to-date volume growth compared with the same period in 2025, the launch strengthens Chouffe’s presence within convenience.

Brewed in the Belgian Ardennes, Chouffe Cherry (8% ABV) combines the iconic character of La Chouffe with the vibrant flavour of cherries. It balances sweet notes with subtle spice and a smooth finish.

• Siren Craft Brew are to take on the former BrewDog bar in Cheltenam. The bar is located in the town’s Brewery Quarter and will become the brewer’s fourth venue, the first outside of Berkshire.

• The 1936 Pub Company has taken over the site of the former Maggie May café on Bold Street, Liverpool. It will re-open later in the summer as The Angel Inn.

• Belgium & Blues has closed its doors for the last time in Southampton. But the owners have left open the idea that the bar could re-open elsewhere.

• Zonal, the hospitality technology provider, has announced the appointment of Joel Chapman as chief executive officer, effective from Wednesday. The appointment comes at a time of stability and investment for the business, which was acquired by Volaris Group earlier this year. Joel has been part of Zonal since 2002 and brings more than two decades of hospitality technology to the role.
