Costs force another brewery to close its doors

The team behind The Park Brewery and Park Brew & Kitchen, in Kingston upon Thames, have decided to close the businesses, citing — as so many have before — economic costs.

The Park Brewery

“The last few years have been extraordinarily tough for small independent businesses, particularly in brewing and hospitality,” said the brewers in a message to customers and fans. “We’ve adapted again and again — cutting costs, finding new customers, developing new income streams and, in 2024, opening Park Brew & Kitchen.

“But ultimately the economics of running both businesses have become increasingly difficult, and we’ve reached the point where we don’t believe continuing is the right thing to do.”

They’re seeking opportunities to sell the brewery, its equipment, brand, and other assets. If you, or someone you know might have a serious interest, email hello@theparkbrewery.com. There are discussions on going with an independent cafe operator who might be interested in taking the site on.

The team add that they are enormously proud of what they’ve built, from the family kitchen to supplying hundreds of pubs, bars, and venues, winning 20 SIBA awards and, most importantly, “putting a lot of beer into the hands of a lot of lovely people”.

Their taproom is closed this weekend, but they will be at Richmond Run Fest tomorrow (Sunday). A final send-off in the taproom is being considered, and there’s still be available online.
