Brewlab have updated their list of forthcoming courses, offering a selection of opportunities for brewers at all levels of experience.

Professional Flavour Evaluation runs on Tuesday, 22nd September. Brewlab’s Professional Flavour Analysis programme introduces basic techniques and terminologies, enabling staff to hone flavour identification skills and apply them to their quality assurance system. The workshop covers:
- Tasting procedures and assessment of individual sensitivities
- Beer flavour terminologies and recognition
- Beer profiling and style identification
- Fault identification
- Taste panel operation
It is most suitable for brewery workers with requirements to contribute to quality assurance and who need a structure for their training and professional development. The course fee is £265.
A week later (29th September) it’s Practical Yeast Management. This will demonstrate how to store, handle, and pitch liquid yeast so brewers can maximise flavour profiles and reduce costs. “We’ll also get the microscopes out so you can see it on a cellular level, evaluating how healthy your yeast is and identifying common contaminants.” The course fee is £265.

Start Up Brewing runs from 23rd-26th November. This provides a comprehensive introduction to the brewing industry and requirements of a commercial venture. The course delivers an overview of the brewing process alongside brewery start-up and legal considerations.
It is suitable for those considering brewing as a possible career change or business opportunity. No background knowledge of brewing is required. The course culminates with a full practical demonstration brew to put the theory into action, and the fee is £895.
Fnally, Intensive Practical Brewing Skills runs from 30th November to 3rd December. This four-day professional development course is designed for anyone who wants to quickly gain the practical knowledge and confidence to brew successfully on a commercial level. The course intensively covers raw materials and the brewing process through to quality control and packaging.
It concludes with a full hands-on practical brew day where students can put learning into action and produce their own recipe. During a practical laboratory session, students have access to a light microscope to practice identifying beer at a microbiological level. By the end of the course, they will have enhanced technical knowledge and be confident in solving typical production problems and running their own operation. The course fee is £1,435.
