Why Lager Is So Inappropriate As An African Beer – And What Can Be Done About It.

Lager is the worlds most popular beer style. But it originated from a specific time and place that doesn’t make a lot of sense for much of the world.

This was a matter of agreement between the participants in our African Brewing Weekend of craft brewer roundtables.

Leo from New Jersey craft brewery Montclair, and Jessi from Rwandan brewery Kweza both agreed on how African beer should not be lager.

These discussed African Influences on American Brewing and Traditional African Brewing respectively.

This 3-session series was arranged with The Chicago Brewseum and featured Kweza, Montclair, Tolokazi, Moors, Bature, and Sankofa breweries.

This just one of the many craft brewer roundtables we organise. Check them out.
