Verdant Brewing Co has teamed up with iconic US alt-rock band The Lemonheads to create a new beer in celebration of the group’s first new material in 19 years.

Marauders Of The Sea is a 6.5% ABV hazy IPA, brewed with Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando at Verdant’s Penryn, Cornwall, brewery.
Inspired by one of The Lemonheads’ new tracks, the beer was brewed with Nectaron (from New Zealand) and US Krush and
Citra hops. It bursts with notes of citrus, pineapple, and peach.
Marauders Of The Sea IPA launched this week via the Verdant webshop before hitting Verdant venues and UK pubs, bottleshops, and bars.
The collaboration ties directly into the Lemonheads’ long-awaited return with new album Love Chant, which will be released by Fire Records on 24th October.
Evan stepped into the brewhouse himself, caught on camera for a playful video (below) that shows him discovering the brewery, quickly learning how to brew a beer, mixing, tasting, and canning.
The project also extends to the road. Verdant is sponsoring The Lemonheads’ tour bus, fuelling the band’s travels across Europe. There are more than 35 gigs lined up, with plenty of Verdant beer on board.
Fans in Cornwall will get a rare treat on 1st October when Evan plays a live solo show at the Verdant Taproom, supported by Chapterhouse. The night will mark a reunion of sorts, as Chapterhouse supported The Lemonheads back in 1993.
“We’ve been fans of The Lemonheads since way back, last catching them live at the Garage, in Highbury, in ’94,” said Verdant co-founder Adam Robertson. “So when the chance came up to collaborate with Evan Dando, we grabbed it with both hands.
“Evan and the crew rolled up to our brewery to shoot the video for Marauders of the Sea, a dream come true for us long-time devotees. The whole thing was pure magic, and Evan was absolutely up for the collaboration.
“We’re already counting down the days until Evan’s back for his solo acoustic show in October. Massive thanks to Fire Records and Bull & Wolf Video Production for making this happen.”
