Track Brewing Co has released numbers two, three, and four in its Harvest Ale series, comprising a fresh hop golden ale, brown ale, and dark mild.
Pilgrimage, a 4% ABV dark mild featuring local hops
The Fresh Hop Golden Ale (5% ABV) is, like the other two brews, in fact, a collaboration with Manchester Hop Project, a band of budding local hop growers. It has a bready malt character that gives way to an assertive and long bitterness. It offers fresh bread and biscuit crumb with a delicate citrus zip.
The brown ale (4.9% ABV), called Auburn, has warming notes of black treacle and cinder toffee permeating its aroma. It pours a deep auburn shade, flashing ruby in the light. Its roasted malt flavour evokes traces of cacao nibs and roasted chestnuts, says the brewer, and there’s a smooth body.
Pilgrimage, a 4% ABV dark mild, marries roasty, toasty maltiness with the multi-dimensional, locally grown, fresh hops. A blend of varieties brings warming spice, sweet dandelion, and a touch of lavender, sitting on a robust malt base that hints at kola nut and freshly-brewed coffee.
