Independent Yorkshire brewery T&R Theakston is celebrating a host of new listings for its 3.4% ABV session pale Quencher.

Cans of the lower-ABV beer will be available in ASDA from late May, with bottles now available in Morrisons, Booths, and Sainsbury’s.
Developed by Theakston’s head brewer, Mark Slater, Theakston Quencher was designed to meet the rising demand from consumers for a lower-alcohol cask ale, which retains the complexity of character found in stronger beers such as Theakston’s iconic Old Peculier.
It is brewed using Pearl Barley and English-grown Sovereign and Eldorado hops, which create a deceptively full-bodied cask ale with a refreshing floral and fruit hop character.
“With changes to beer duty and rising demand for lower-strength beers, we took the decision to create a distinctive new ale which offers all the hallmarks of a Theakston classic,” said Richard Bradbury, manageing director of Theakston’s. “Our brewing team have excelled themselves!
“Quencher has quickly become one of our best performing beers, confirming our decision was correct, and we are pleased to see Quencher continue its success with our national retail listings.
“Combining high-quality raw ingredients with our nearly 200 years of brewing expertise, enables us to continue innovating within the cask ale market and we are proud to be welcoming new drinkers into the Theakston fold.”
These new listings follow the brewery’s recent launch of Nowt Peculier, a 0.0% ABV version of the brewery’s legendary Old Peculier in Sainsbury’s stores across the UK.
