Sussex collaboration supports Fishermen’s Mission

Harvey’s Brewery has collaborated with The Hastings Project to brew a special beer that is supporting The Fishermen’s Mission.

Harvey's Hastings Project

RX-IPA is a 5.5% ABV Red Rye IPA. Brewed with a generous donation of Maris Otter malt from Simpsons Malt, the beer blends 235 years of Harvey’s brewing tradition and its unique yeast strain with bold West Coast hop character from Simcoe and Chinook.

The grist of rye, Munich, and crystal rye adds a rich, complex backbone to notes of sweet red berries, fresh pine, spiciness, and a robust yet refreshing bitterness.

The Fishermen’s Mission is the only national charity dedicated to supporting active and retired fishermen and their families. It provides financial, practical, and emotional support, as well as a 24/7 emergency service for those facing accidents or illness at sea.

The Hastings Project is a community brewery dedicated to making beer that raises funds for local charitable and community initiatives. Currently, they support causes such as the Refugee Buddy Project, Little Gate Farm, Hastings Voluntary Action, Roots of Return, and WRAS, with plans to expand further.

To create lasting impact, they aim to establish a venue that doubles as a community hub, generates meaningful social change through fundraising, and offers local people training, apprenticeships, and employment opportunities in brewing.
