Siren Craft Brew are bringing back one of their most popular imperial stouts, Origin Story, this month, but it’ll be joined by two new variants.
With speciality malts, three separate mashes, and three oak varieties, Origin Story, introduced in 2020, is one of Siren’s most complex creations ever.
It was brewed as a true ‘imperial grain stout’, showcasing the incredible variety of roasted barley available to the brewer and the depth of flavour it can bring, without often-seen adjuncts such as lactose, chocolate, or coffee.
This year it is being joined by Nitro Origin Story and Origin S’Morey imperial stout with vanilla and hazelnut, both 10% ABV.
The former shows how nitrogen can affect big stouts, while its companion offers notes of marshmallow, caramel, honey, nutty biscuit, chocolate, and subtle smokiness from those malts.
“Rich residual sugars balance with oak tannins to keep the beer drinkable, moreish, and spectacularly flavoursome,” says the brewer.
