Brewer Tennent’s will be dropping ‘Rain Cheques’ throughout Scotland where and when rainfall has been high and persistent, in a new promotion.

On each cheque, reasons to stay cheerful this summer will be found. Beers with friends, airport pints that will whisk drinkers off to sunnier climates, and even £1885 in cash, in a nod to the year Tennent’s was founded.
To launch, they’re unveiling a Rain Cheque ATM that will pop up first in Skye this week. Skye suffered some of the country’s worst weather last year, with only 13 days without rain from June to August.
Further Rain Cheques will come to Glasgow next week, too, before hitting other locations across the summer. To make a withdrawal, all people need to do is track down the Rain Cheque ATM and figure out a special PIN. Its specific location will be revealed on Tennent’s social media channels today (Monday).
“Braving the summer here is practically a national sport,” said Joanne Motion, senior brand manager at Tennent’s. “As a country, we normally just get on with the fact we can experience four seasons in any one day, but last year was particularly bad.
“With the lift that we all got from having such a warm and sunny spring, we thought we’d do something to offset the rubbish days this summer and bring some joy, rain or shine.”
The Rain Cheques are part of Tennent’s Braving the Summer campaign, highlighting the experience of summer for Scots, as well as the fact that the brand has been helping the nation to ‘brave the summer’ since 1885.
