Independent drinks wholesaler LWC is set to introduce one of Germany’s favourite beer brands, Brinkhoff’s No.1, to British taps.

Said to have been born from a pale‑malt misbatch in Dortmund in 1887, the beer arrives exclusively through LWC’s Signature Brands portfolio, perfectly timed for Oktoberfest and the booming world beer market.
A lighter pale malt, originally delivered to a customer by mistake, sparked one of Germany’s greatest beer inventions, with the original 5% ABV pale lager quickly becoming a Ruhr‑area favourite.
In the German market, Brinkhoff’s No.1 has been poured as the official beer of Borussia Dortmund football club, where British talents like Jude and Jobe Bellingham first rose to international prominence.
“We’re thrilled to introduce Brinkhoff’s No.1 to our customers as an exclusive UK first,” said Lee Williams, beer and cider category manager at LWC.
This is a beer with real heritage and cultural resonance – not just in Germany, but here in the UK too.
“Brinkhoff’s story sits alongside history’s greatest accidental discoveries, and now our customers get to share that narrative with a beer that delivers proven appeal in the Ruhr and beyond. Our dedicated teams and bespoke point-of-sale kits will ensure operators can activate it easily, drive footfall and make the most of the world‑beer boom.”
LWC will also launch two complementary variants alongside the main lager — an alcohol-free beer and a 2% ABV radler.
