Oasis fans are being invited to belt out Wonderwall in a one‑day singing showdown, as Innis & Gunn launch the Wonderwall World Championships in Edinburgh.

Innis Gunn Oasis

The open mic competition will take place on Saturday (9th August) at Stockbridge Social, the city’s new outdoor food and drink market, run by Innis & Gunn.

Timed for the afternoon before Oasis play Murrayfield, the event gives fans the chance to warm up their vocals on the Britpop anthem — a song which has racked up more than 2.4 billion Spotify streams an which is a consistent karaoke hit.

Hosted by A View from the Terrace’s Craig Telfer, performances will be judged by a panel of Wonderwall connoisseurs. The winner will take home a ‘Wonderwall’ of Innis & Gunn — six feet of Scottish beer. Every participant will receive a pint of Innis & Gunn Lager Beer for stepping up to the mic.

“Like Oasis, we have never been afraid to do things our own way,” said Innis & Gunn founder Dougal Sharp. “Wonderwall has cemented itself into British culture, and everybody knows it. And, after all, as soon as those opening chords ring out, you know it’s going to be a good time.

“With the Gallaghers coming to Edinburgh, we thought it was the perfect time to let people have their own moment in the spotlight. Grab a pint, grab the mic and show us your Wonderwall.”
