A new way to experience Norwich’s legendary pub scene launches today with the arrival of the NR1 Beer Loop.

Running until 20th July, the self-guided trail challenges beer lovers to explore some of Norwich’s best independent pubs — with an exclusive prize waiting for those who complete the loop.
Here’s How It Works:
- Pick up a trail map and stamp card from any participating pub or download it online.
- Visit each venue on the loop between 11th and 20th July.
- Collect a stamp from every pub when you enjoy a drink there (soft drinks count too!).
- Once you’ve completed the loop and filled your stamp card, head to Redwell Brewery to redeem it for an exclusive NR1 Beer Loop prize — only available to finishers.
“This is all about exploring the best pubs in NR1, supporting independents, and having a lot of fun along the way,” said Charlotte Cole, general manager of The Freemasons Arms, and part of the team at Snug Hospitality organising the NR1 Beer Loop.
“You don’t have to do it in a day — take the full 10 days, enjoy it at your own pace, and discover — or rediscover — some incredible venues along the way.”
Launch party
To celebrate the start of the Beer Loop, Redwell Brewery will be hosting a launch party at their taproom in NR1 this evening. There will be live music from The Lovin’ Handful, pizza from The Redwell Vault, and barbecue specials.
There will also be first pours of Back in The Loop, an exclusive beer brewed specially for the trail and available only at participating venues. The summery IPA has a light natural haze, citrus on the nose, and a pleasantly bitter kick.
“We loved the idea of bringing the Norwich beer community together for this,” said Alex Elliot, from Redwell Brewing. “Back in The Loop is a beer designed for summer — something sociable, refreshing, and brewed right here in NR1.”
