Northern Monk has announced a trio of new beers — all collaborations — to mark its forthcoming annual beer festival, Hop City, taking place on 16th and 17th May.
There’s a double IPA, a double-dry-hopped IPA, and a pilsner.
The DDH IPA (6.5% ABV) has been created in collaboration with Rivington and festival sponsor Indie Hops, showcasing the latter’s unique varieties, leading with Luminosa and Strata.
The former brings peach, orange juice, and soft tropical notes, whil the latter delivers passionfruit, strawberry, and a dank bite, with a touch of Lorien in the whirlpool adding a zesty undercurrent.
The pilsner (5% ABV) is Italian style and has been brewed with New Hampshire’s Schilling Beer Co, one of the finest lager brewers in the US.
“We dipped into the Indie Hops portfolio once again here,” say the brewers, “deciding on a pairing of Lorien (notes of lemon and lime zest, wildflower, and honeydew) and Audacia (notes of berry, lilac, and lavender). The base beer is bone dry, with a crisp bitterness, like any good pilsner should have.”
The DIPA (8% ABV) is a collaboration with Finland’s Revenant Brewing Project. Indie Hops’ Luminosa takes the lead, with its vibrant lemonade, peach and mango notes, with Lorien providing summer meadow and fresh melon.
