St Austell Brewery in Cornwall is celebrating its 175th anniversary by launching a special range of cask ales for 2026.

Drawing on recipes from old brewing books dating back to the 1800s, the collection pays tribute to some of the brewery’s well-loved beers. There are imagined beers from the past and the current cask range, including a new anniversary ale, 1851.

Admiral’s Ale (5%) was first brewed in 2005 to mark the bicentenary of Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar.

Trelawny (3.8% is a best bitter named after Bishop Trelawny who led a mutiny in 1688 in support of the Royalist cause during the English Civil War. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London and was accused of treason. He was acquitted and there were big celebrations in Cornwall.

Tribute Extra (5.3%) is a big version of St Austell’s best-selling Tribute, brewed with Cornish barley and Celeia and Willamette hops.

Director of Brewing Georgina Young says: “Reaching 175 years is an extraordinary milestone and it felt only right to celebrate by bringing back some of our most cherished beers.

“Our brewing archives are full of wonderful recipes.”
