Amity Brew Co have received planning permission to create a new brewery at Albion Mills in Greengates, Bradford, with work getting under way next week.

The move will allow Amity to expand its production capacity and meet growing demand. They have outgrown their current site at Sunny Bank Mills, in Farsley.
Known for their innovative craft beers and award-winning brews, such as the 2023 SIBA Independent Beer Award-winning Waterpistol pale ale, the brewery will be relocating just three miles from their current location to a space that offers more room for both production and customer experiences.
The old premises, however, will be home to an upgraded taproom, which has been the subject of a crowdfunding campaign. A £50,000 target was set and exceeded, so this has now been stretched to £100,000.
“It’s incredible to see the support from our community, and these funds will help us create the best possible space for our customers in Leeds and Bradford,” said Amity co-founder Russ Clarke.
On the brewery, co-director Verity Clarke said: “We’ve loved being part of the vibrant Leeds beer scene, but it’s clear that Bradford offers exciting new opportunities for growth.
“This is an amazing time for the move to happen, especially with Bradford being named City of Culture this year. We’re proud to be part of that energy, and we’re excited to contribute to the revitalisation of this dynamic city.”
Paving the way for future expansion
The new premises at Albion Mills will allow Amity to expand its operations, moving beyond the constraints of the current site at Sunny Bank Mills, where brewing can only take place when the bar is closed.
With the new location, Amity will be able to brew around the clock, increase output, and accommodate a growing customer base. The brewery has invested in new equipment and a larger brewing space, paving the way for future expansion in trade and exports.
As part of the relocation, Amity will also open a new taproom at the Albion Mills site, offering an enhanced experience for beer lovers in the region. The bar at Sunny Bank Mills will remain open and expand into the space previously used for brewing, ensuring Amity can continue serving its loyal customers in Farsley while ramping up production in Bradford.
The new brewery is a former storage unit which had been vacant for many years.
The expanded Leeds taproom is set to open this summer. The ambitious project, designed in collaboration with award-winning interior specialists Design Tonic, will include a complete refit of the lower-level brewery space.
A key highlight of the expansion is the introduction of a new kitchen in partnership with James Ooi, an innovative concept from the founder of Little Bao Boy. The revamped taproom will boast increased seating, additional toilet facilities, and a dedicated upstairs event and workspace — just in time for private Christmas parties, community events and corporate gatherings.
