Powderkeg Brewery’s helles lager, Harmony, has won a silver medal at the National Indie Beer Awards, run by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates.

The award recognises Harmony as one of the very best lagers in the country, and builds on Powderkeg’s long track record of success at the top level, including world’s best lager for Cut Loose and four national champion titles across other styles. Harmony itself has now collected 10 awards since its launch.
Launched in 2017, Harmony was created to give local venues a flavour‑forward alternative to mass‑produced lager. Combining classic German brewing principles with the flavour-first creativity of the craft beer sector, it has since become Powderkeg’s best‑selling beer.
It is clean, bright, and well balanced, with enough flavour to keep it interesting, but it remains crisp, refreshing, and thirst-quenching.
“The challenge in developing it was always to build in enough intrigue whilst still keeping it very light,” said Powderkeg co-fonder and head brewer John Magill.
“Brewing it requires a very controlled and very patient process, and any slip or cut-corner will immediately stand out in such a deceptively simple final product.
“We’re delighted that the judges have recognised the care and technical expertise that is needed to keep such a light beer consistently faultless.”
