Bragdy Twt Lol (The Trefforest Brewery) and Bragdy Cybi have taken home the two overall golds in the inuagural Indie Beer Cymru Awards.

Winners display their awards
Twt Lol won the cask beer competition with their Pretty Fly for a Magpie IPA. This was described as a “very hoppy, bitter, but smooth IPA, with an incredible amount of aroma”.
Bragdy Cybi won the keg beer competition with 6 Sitra. This contains six varieties of hops, including American Citra, and impressed judges with “a fruit salad of flavours and fruity citrus undertones”.
The Indie Beer Awards are organised by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA) and took place ahead of the opening of the first ever Indie Beer Cymru festival, in Haverfordwest today.
“The quality of beers across the competition was incredibly high, so huge congratulations to all the great breweries named winners in their style category,” said SIBA competitions chair Anneli Baxter.
“With so many great beers in the running, you should be truly proud of taking home the win. But I want to give particular praise to our two overall gold winners who were named the ‘best of the best’ in our final round judging — huge congratulations to Bragdy Twt Lol and Bragdy Cybi.”
All of the winning beers will be on sale today at the festival. It is organised by Welsh brewers from SIBA, building on the success of the hugely popular Indie Beer Scotland event in Glasgow, which took place a few weeks ago.
Winners from the Indie Beer Cymru Awards will go on to the national finals early next year.
