Brew By Numbers (BBNo) has launched the latest beer in its numbered series, 12, a barrel-aged imperial stout collaboration with innovative Finnish distillery Kyro.
12 is a 12.4% ABV brew and pours inky black, with aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, and vanilla. It’s described as a perfect accompaniment to cheese or chocolate-based desserts.
The collaboration with Kyro, an all-rye distillery, came to be through a chance meeting at the London Craft Beer Festival. Both parties have been planning and ageing this beer ever since.
“An imperial stout aged in their rye whisky barrels, 12 represents the perfect marriage of brewing and distilling expertise from both sides of the North Sea,” said Sally Stewart, brand manager at Brew By Numbers.
“We’ve sold over a quarter of stock already, so if you want to try it, act fast before it sells out!”
BBNo has also released 01, a lemon and apricot saison which reflects the beer which launched the brand into the craft beer scene 12 years ago.
It’s a 5.4% ABV brew featuring sweet and spicy aromas, notes of honey, and a subtle floral taste. The beer makes a perfect accompaniment to cheese to enhance its apricot flavours, says the brewer.
