Perivale Brewery have called on illustrator and author Chris Riddell OBE to spearhead the transformation of a wooden hoarding surrounding their Horsenden Farm HQ.

Chris will be creating his piece, entitled The Perivale Wyvern, on Sunday (22nd March), during an all-day event that is free to attend. The public are invited to visit the farm and watch the work take shape, and to talk to Chris about his process.
The hoarding was erected by Ealing council in December to ensure the safety of staff, volunteers, and visitors, following advice from building surveyors on the structural defects of the farmhouse.
While the brewery and Friends of Horsenden fully support the safeguarding of the buildings, they’re keen to keep the farm beautiful, and had the idea to use hoarding as a blank canvas for original art.
“We’ve obviously been impacted by the hoardings and closure of our courtyard, but from adversity comes opportunity, and we realised we could turn the boards into something beautiful,” said Perivale Brewery co-founder Christian Perrins. “We’re honoured to have Chris come down to the vale and work his magic.”

The artist has collaborated with the brewery before, drawing live onto a projected screen as musicians played, to raise money for Just Life, a national homelessness charity.
Sarah Murphy, chair of trustees for Friends of Horsenden added: “Since the Friends of Horsenden was first formed, Horsenden Farm has been a hub for creativity and resilience within the community.
“We hope that this will be the first step in a new chapter for Horsenden. The mural will bring a spark of inspiration as we work with the council in developing plans for the future of the farmhouse.”
