Farmhouse brewing is at best a very minor part of the beer scene in most countries. In Lithuania it traditional farmhouse brewing has a much larger footprint and can be found pretty easily.
During the Soviet occupation the brewers of Lithuania showed great ingenuity and resilience in preserving their beer traditions and Lithuanian beer was sought from other Soviet Republics. A big part of the reason lies in Lithuania’s unique position in the Soviet Union.
