Kelly Sidgwick and Bob Cary, co-founders of Bristol-based Good Chemistry Brewing, have announced that they are to step away from the business.

Their decision comes after 10 remarkable years of brewing enormously popular beer and building a vibrant community.
“We have committed a decade to building up this business from scratch to something we are immensely proud of,” said Kelly. “But we have also got to the point in our lives where we want to make some changes, have a break, and try something new. We would love to see brewing continue on William Street, and we’re currently talking to interested parties.”
Since its founding, Good Chemistry has become a beloved part of Bristol’s beer scene, known for its commitment to quality, creativity, and community. From the taproom to the pubs, from local events to national distribution, the brewery has thrived thanks to the incredible support of its customers, collaborators, and team.
“We’re deeply grateful for the support we’ve received over the past 10 years,” said Bob. “Bristol has always backed Bristol, and we’re proud to have built our business here.”
As they prepare to explore new challenges and take a well-earned break, the brewery remains active. Brewing and packaging continue, with new releases — including the return of a fan favourite — coming soon to the webshop and stockists across the city. The popular Think While You Drink event series will also return this autumn, with details to be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, the company’s two pubs — The Good Measure and the Kings Head — remain open and thriving under the leadership of Neil and Laura and their dedicated teams.
“We understand this news may come as a surprise,” Kelly added. “Our team remains focused on delivering the quality and integrity that we’re known for, and we want to thank our customers, collaborators, and community for their continued support. We’re so proud of what we’ve created together.”
Those who might be interested in exploring the opportunity to take on the brewery site are encouraged to get in touch.
