Fyne Ales, the independent Scottish brewery based on a farm at the head of Loch Fyne, has launched a new nitro stout, Rook.

The new brew is described as familiar enough for stout traditionalists, while offering the depth and precision that craft beer drinkers look for.
The beer takes its name from the rooks that circle above the farmland and wild countryside around the brewery’s estate. For Fyne Ales, the rook is more than just a familiar sight — it symbolises the brewery’s connection to the land and its commitment to brewing in harmony with its surroundings.
“We’ve spent months fine-tuning the recipe for Rook to make sure it strikes the right balance of depth and drinkability,” said head brewer Sam Shrimpton.

“Using nitro allows us to create that silky, velvety texture that stout drinkers love, while the malt bill delivers rich roasted notes without ever being heavy. It’s a beer that feels indulgent but is still perfect for a session pint.”
Graham Coates, head of sales, added: “This is a really exciting addition to our range. Nitro stouts are beloved for their drinkability, and we wanted to create something that not only delivers on flavour but also reflects who we are as a brewery.
“As a family-owned business rooted in the farm here at Glen Fyne, supporting independent brewing is at the heart of what we do, and we can’t wait to see Rook being poured in pubs from October.”
