A range of 30 ales, including five from international brewers, are coming to Wetherspoon pubs for the Spring Beer Festival next month.

Wetherspoon Beer Festival

The festival will run from Wednesday 4th to Sunday 15th March. The overseas brewers are from Brazil, Italy, Mexico, Spain and the USA, with 28 of the festival beers being new to Wetherspoon. It is also the first time that the festival will feature a real ale from Mexico.

As well as featuring a range of malt and hop varieties from around the world, there are also beers which include coffee, elderflower, hibiscus, and maple syrup among their ingredients. There will also be vegan beers.

The international beers are: Tropical, from Cervejaria Bodebrown, Brazil, Nigredo (Birrificio Italiano, Italy), Session IPA (Malteza, Mexico), Vicious IPA (Almogàver, Spain), and Read the Room (Good Word, USA).

The festival line-up also includes Salem Coastal Confusion, from Batemans, Brains’ Crimson Legend, Shug Monkey (Elgood’s), Brewed Awakening (Hook Norton), Lucky ’Lips (Shepherd Neame), and Pitch Perfect (Vale).

“The festival is a great celebration of cask beer,” said J D Wetherspoon marketing manager Jen Swindells.

“Over a 12-day period, the pubs can showcase a selection of superb value-for-money beers, including those from brewers as far afield as Brazil and Mexico, as well as those closer to home.

“The festival gives customers the chance to enjoy beers which have not previously been available in the pubs, as well as those brewed especially for the festival — and there are plenty of new beers to try.”
