Thornbridge have named the first group to benefit from a fundraising scheme involving their session bitter The Great Outdoors.

Thornbridge Great Outdoors

The brewer pledged that 20p from each pint of this 3.4% ABV brew would go to local charities dedicated to helping children experience the countryside and connect with nature in ways they might not otherwise have the opportunity to.

And the first beneficiary will be Friends of Thornbridge Outdoors, an independent charity that works with Thornbridge Outdoors in Great Longstone, close to the brewery. The charity supports the work of the outward-bound centre to ensure that children who otherwise might not be able to enjoy the wonders of the Peak District are able to do so.

Their offerings include residential stays, on-site activities, and programmes like the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Donations will then also be available to other charities who work in the field of children’s outdoor education in the Peak District National Park.

So far this year, sales of The Great Outdoors have generated £1,022, says Thornbridge.
