March 2020

We announced that BRÚ Brewery and Carrig Brewing were merging. As part of this partnership, we were updating the recipes for our traditional range and adding Carrig’s Urban Jungle range to our core offerings. Our Urban Jungle beer, Osiris IPA, symbolises our new beginning with a reference to the Egyptian God of rebirth.

April 2020

Looking for a way to deliver all our new beers during the lockdown, our online BRÚ Shop was born. We’re thrilled with all the support we received from the launch, which helped us reach customers both new and old (and get plenty of great reviews about the new beers!).

May 2020

Off the Hook joined our Urban Jungle range, a modern take on the refreshing Pilsner style to celebrate the beginning of summer.

June 2020

After participating at the Concours International de Lyon, we left the competition with a gold medal for our BRÚ Red Ale and silver medals for our BRÚ Lager, BRÚ Pale Ale and BRÚ Stout. We were so grateful to receive these accolades for our core range beers.

Blurry Furry, our blueberry Berliner Weisse and, Cheep Flirt, our hazy session IPA, were brewed and added to our Urban Jungle range to embrace the clement 2020 summer. Both were brewed to be refreshing and with a lower ABV, making lockdown a bit more palatable.

July 2020

Our first collaboration with our friends at Craft Central resulted in King Nelson, a single hop IPA that showcases the New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hop. It received brilliant reviews from customers and converted more drinkers to the BRÚ range.

August 2020

We joined Retro Cannonball Ireland, a car lovers’ community, on a weekend driving trip around Ireland in aid of Barnardos Ireland, a children’s charity.

September 2020

Our brewer Nico completed his first year on our team and he’s been a brilliant addition to the brewhouse.

October 2020

Our second exciting collaboration was with Dublin’s DOT Brew. We brewed our first barrel aged rye ale, Legna Dearg. This beer was aged in Italian Amarone and American oak barrels for 18 months and the result was sophisticated and absolutely stunning.

Following this, we collaborated on a second beer with DOT Brew, Well Rounded Individual, also a barrel aged blend consisting of a red ale aged in American oak Amarone for 1.5 years, then transferred to dark rum barrels for an extra six months. It was another exciting beer (and worth the wait!).

November 2020

We walked away with five medals and a trophy from the International Beer Challenge 2020. Our BRÚ IPA won a silver medal in the Ales category, Cheep Flirt won a bronze medal in the Ales category, Tutti Frutti won a bronze medal in the Flavoured Beers category, BRÚ Lager won a bronze medal in the Speciality Beers gluten-free category.

Our Legna Dearg collaboration with DOT Brew won a prestigious trophy in addition to a gold medal in the Speciality Beer category.

We were stunned by the results, proving that all the hard work during the year was worth it.

December 2020

We offered a range of Christmas Hampers for the most wonderful time of year. They were extremely popular and kept us busy all month long.

January 2021

The year started with level 5 lockdown in Ireland, but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits about our 2021 prospects.

Throughout the month, our sales team worked hard to make BRÚ beers available in more off licences around Ireland.

February 2021

For Valentine’s Day, we created a ‘BRÚ my Valentine’ gift bundle with beers, a glass and chocolates. Our brewery was also back in full swing, busy with brewing, bottling, and canning to keep up with the demand for our customers around Ireland.

March 2021

Here we are, celebrating our first year after merging and rebranding!

But we still have some exciting news to share, so here’s a spoiler: to celebrate our first new BRÚ anniversary, a new and very special beer will be joining our Urban Jungle range.

While we keep you guessing about what style of beer we’re brewing for this, we wanted to thank you for your support during what has obviously been an unprecedented year. Also, thanks to our hard-working team and brilliant suppliers.

Despite the hurdles and uncertainty, we are so thankful for the support of our drinkers. We still owe you a party to celebrate the new BRÚ and we can’t wait to host events again when it’s safe to do so.

So sláinte! We’ll all be enjoying a BRÚ beer together soon!
