We’ve had a few folks slide into our DMs (and more than a few pints later at the bar) asking the same question: “Any chance you’d share the recipe for Vertigo?” Well, we’re not ones to keep a good thing to ourselves—especially when it’s as bold, hoppy, and dangerously drinkable as this Black IPA.

Vertigo is brewed to Paul Elston’s winning recipe from the Midlands Beer Competition, and we’re thrilled to say Paul has kindly agreed to let us share the homebrew-sized version of this absolute belter of a beer. One thing to note: the competition required the use of WHC Lab Electrifying yeast. It’s a fairly neutral strain that lets the malt and hops do the talking, so if you don’t have it to hand, feel free to sub in your go-to clean fermenter.

So, whether you’re a seasoned homebrewer or a hop-obsessed tinkerer, get your brew kettles ready—it’s time to chase Vertigo.

I think this is a great beer to enjoy with the cooler weather upon us now. It would be a super beer to share with friends and family over the Christmas holidays and there is loads of time to have it ready. Give it a go. Let us know how you get on. Cheers!

Lineman was setup in 2019 and produced their first beer in August of that year. Lineman had been a long-planned project of founder/owner/brewer Mark Lucey. Having been obsessed with beer and heavily involved in homebrewing for all his adult life, it was always an ambition to open a brewery or have a commercial brewing project that would allow him to produce a diverse range of beer. Stouts, Belgians styles, IPAs and Mixed Fermentations.
