Bojanter Irish Stout

Eight Degrees Brewing - Bojanter Irish Stout

Back in the depths of the twentieth century, when life was hard and the stouts were robust, in certain parts of Ireland a large bottle of stout was referred to as a Bojanter. With an eye to the past, but keeping in mind the comforts of the present, we’ve packed our Bojanter with toasted dark malts and extra roasted barley for more flavour, specifically designing this pint for quiet sipping by the fireside. Sessionable off the shelf, or even from the cooler on a warm day.

Style: Dry Irish stout
Malt: Irish pale ale malt, chocolate malt, wheat malt, roast barley and Crisp 400.
Hops: Nugget.
ABV: 6%
IBUs: 24

Tasting notes
Colour/appearance: Near black in the glass with a tan head.
Aroma: This beer is all about the malt and the nose doesn’t disappoint: lots of rich roasted espresso and sweet molasses.
Flavour: That robust rich roast comes through on the palate, with dark bitter chocolate undertones.
Aftertaste: Dark roast coffee bitterness and a fine dry finish.

Food pairings
Have a cottage pie on the menu for tonight? This beer will make the perfect complementary pairing. It’s also an ideal contrast with fish chowder or use it as a chaser for some freshly shucked briny oysters. We love it with our local Cashel Blue cheese for a sweet-salty experience. Can’t resist this with (or in) double chocolate stout brownies and if you pair it with a white chocolate cheesecake it will prevent the sweetness becoming too cloynig.
