Polly’s Brew Co has collaborated with seven other breweries to devise a collections of seven new beers to mark the brewery’s seventh anniversary.
The collection of pale and hoppy IPAs, a decadent imperial stout, and a zingy fruited sour showcase “why craft beer is the most wonderfully unique industry”, says Polly’s.
The beers
Imperial Stout (10% ABV), with Lost Cause Brewing Co
Chocolate malt, crushed chocolate, brown malt, milled DRC, crystal dark, black malt, and amber malt are alongside Polly’s usual base pale and wheat to up the grist bill on this beer to over a tonne. This is offset against a hot-side addition of Simcoe for a whisper of bitterness.
Triple IPA (10% ABV), with Pomona Island
Hopped with fresh Mosaic, Citra, Talus, and Strata, with with 24g/l of bold passionfruit, tangerine, sweet berries, and coconut, with a whisper of rosewater and sage for complexity.
White IPA (6.8% ABV), with Thornbridge
A beer with lineage in Germany, thanks to the use of SafAle W68 yeast, and roots that touch the classic IPAs of the US with application of three cornerstone hops in Amarillo, Cascade, and Citra, before a final flourish of new school titan Galaxy from the South Pacific. Expect fresh-cut oranges, peaches, and pineapple, with a hint of banana and clove for complexity.
West Coast IPA (5.9% ABV) with Duration
Hopped with Citra, Simcoe, and Chinook, with a flourish of a new-to-Polly’s variety in Audacia. It’s unashamedly bitter with a clean piney and resinous backbone, with bright fruit flavours.
Double IPA (8.4% ABV), with Sureshot
A cocktail of the most fruit-forward hops — Citra, Idaho 7, Nelson Sauvin, and Sabro. Expect punchy pineapple, coconut cream, lime, mango, gooseberry, and passionfruit.
Passionfruit and lime sour (7% ABV), with Pastore
A beer that’s equal parts sweet and moreish, but with a defined puckeringly tart edge. The collaboration brings more than a tonne of fruit to the party to create a thick, pulpy sour that has sweetness as well as a big hit of dry limey sourness.
India Pale Ale (6.1% ABV), with Spookton
A meld of in-house favourite Idaho 7, alongside the freshly-named Krush, both imparting juicy tropical notes with a sticky pine undercurrent. A supercharge of DynaBoost in the whirlpool, along with HyperBoost on the cold side, means all of the fruit-forward notes have been amplified up to 11, with intense mango, pineapple, and pomelo flavours.
