Black Donkey Beer at the Big Grill!

The Black Donkey Crew are delighted to be attending the Big Grill food and BBQ festival in Herbert Park Dublin from Thursday 11th August until Sunday 14th of August 2022. We cannot wait to be at a live event again. This will be the first time our beers will have been served on draught in the pale in over 2 years! Read on for more about the beers being poured and our birthday giveaways so you can celebrate our 8 trips around the sun along with us!

Big Grill Countdown Clock!

What is the Big Grill?

The Big Grill is the best and the biggest live fire barbeque festival in all of Europe. Featuring all live fire cooking which means no gas or electric cooking. The event in its seventh year boasts some of the biggest names in the barbecue scene from across the world. In addition, there are demonstrations, and talks about cooking over live fire as well as live entertainment. Undoubtedly, we will feel very much at home.

Check out the awesome line up.

What to expect?

We are over the moon to be at the Big Grill this year. Especially as it is the first one since the “C” word stopped everything in its tracks. We were at the 2019 event on our third outing and we loved every minute of it. Expect awesome food from international BBQ kings and queens as well as mouth watering offerings from Irish restaurants to keep the hunger at bay. Top notch craft breweries, cideries and meaderies help keep the thirst at bay. This year we will be in great company.

What beers are we pouring?

We will be pouring three of our beers at the big grill this year.

Sheep Stealer Tap Badge

The first beer to come out of the Black Donkey stables was Sheep Stealer. Sheep Stealer (5.6% ABV) is the original Irish Farmhouse Ale, inspired by the Belgian Saison style. Sheep Stealer is the perfect food accompaniment beer, and it is right at home with grilled and roast meats, and smokey charred veggies, of which there will be plenty of world class examples at the big grill.

Western Warrior bar tap badge

The second beer pouring will be our small-batch, micro-brewed, all-natural lager (4.2% ABV), Western Warrior. This lager has a clean, crisp light taste with a relatively low alcohol content. Absolutely perfect for sipping on a late Summers day. Pairs very well with grilled pork and chicken as well as smoked meats, a great match for a BBQ festival.

TKO bar tap badge

Our final beer making its debut appearance at the big grill is TKO, our old school style IPA. Packing a punch at 5% ABV, this copper-coloured beer has refreshing flavours of raisins and citrus zest. A crisp clean bitterness and a lively carbonation leave you primed for the next sip. A perfect accompaniment to smoked and spicy foods, it pairs exceptionally well with spicy salami and charcuterie, hearty curries and spice rubbed BBQ.

Please join us in person or on social media in raising a glass of your favourite Black Donkey brew to celebrate 8 years around the sun! 🍻
