Butcombe Brewing Co is celebrating an International Brewing Awards gold medal for its flagship beer, Butcombe Original.

The win came in ale class for smallpack ale (in this case, in can), from 4.5% to 4.9% ABV.

“We’re incredibly proud to see Butcombe Original recognised on the world stage,” said Jayson Perfect, chief operating officer at Butcombe Group.

“This beer has been at the heart of our brewery for nearly five decades, and to receive a gold medal from such a respected panel of practising brewers is a huge honour.

“It’s a testament to our team, our commitment to quality, and the loyal drinkers who have made Original the South West’s favourite pint.”

Ruth Evans MBE, chief executive of the BFBI and director of the International Brewing and Cider Awards, said: “Our international panel of brewers and cider makers have judged a fantastic array of beers and ciders from around the world.

“The results reflect the quality of entries this year, ensuring a high level of debate amongst the judges, debate being at the core of our judging process.”
