Verdant’s latest IPA release has been inspired by a 2017 novel by David Keenan depicting the post-punk scene in Scotland during the early 1980s.

In This is Memorial Device, to be “way beyond the long blank” means being in the flow, lost in a moment of time and living out a wild dream.
The phrase is now the name of a 6.5% ABV Verdant IPA, described as a juicy banger with intense flavours of white grape, grapefruit, and sharp citrus, “coupled with that signature Verdant umami”! Umami is the fifth basic taste, often described as savoury, a complex flavour that adds depth and richness to dishes and drinks.
“The umami vibes in our beers are usually linked to the hop combos we use,” says Verdant. “When designing our recipes, we choose hops that aren’t just fruit bombs, but have multiple layers of flavour and real depth.
“For example, in this week’s IPA, we used Ekuanot and Strata, which are less fruit-forward and more dank, to counterbalance the citrusy and grapey notes of Nelson Sauvin.”
Way Beyond The Long Blank is in the Verdant webshop now.
