Toast Brewing has announced the forthcoming launch of Another Round session IPA, a sustainable collaboration with Aldi’s The Hop Foundry brand.
The juicy, hazy beer will be available nationwide from 11th November. It’s crafted using Aldi’s surplus tiger bread, giving a second life to food that would otherwise go to waste.
Toast has been brewing since 2015, reinvigorating a process that’s as old as beer itself. By using surplus bread to replace malted barley, they make good use of one of the UK’s most commonly wasted food. But it also means they need less malt and so are using less land, water, and energy, too.
Another Round rescues 3 tonnes of leftover loaves. The result is a bright, refreshing IPA, with English Harlequin and Ernest hops, delivering delicious citrusy notes with hints of peach and passionfruit.
‘A big win for nature’
“We’re excited to partner with Aldi for the first time on an IPA that’s as kind to the planet as it is to beer lovers’ tastebuds,” said Toast co-founder Louise Ziane.
“By using Aldi’s surplus tiger bread to prevent food waste, this is a big win for nature and Aldi’s carbon footprint.”
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, added: “We’re always looking for ways to improve sustainability across our business, and our partnership with Toast Brewing will help reduce food waste, support British suppliers, and offer customers high-quality, sustainable products.
“This sustainable beer is a perfect example of how we can work together to make a positive impact on the environment, while still delivering great value and taste.”
