Round Corner Brewing have claimed world’s best strong porter, for Underwater Song, at the 2024 World Beer Awards. The brewery also won eight other medals.
One of Round Corner Brewing’s most highly awarded beers, the long-matured Baltic porter is a complex, yet drinkable 8.2% ABV brew, fermented at 10°C with lager yeast and then cold-lagered for smoothness.
Adding to its long list of medals, this year Underwater Song also claimed gold in two categories at the International Brewing and Cider Awards.
Winning the England country winner award in the pilsner lager category was Frisby Lager, no stranger to awards with 11 total. It is made with German pilsner malt and English wheat malt.
England silver winner in the IPA, speciality category was 10 Hours In L A. This is Round Corner Brewing’s vision of the perfect Pacific pale ale, deliciously soft with a restrained bitterness and tropical fruit hop aroma.
Steeplechase Pale Ale won England silver in the pale beer, American-style IPA category, while summer seasonal orange lager, Layover, won England silver in speciality beer, gluten free. Claiming a bronze for session IPAs was Drovers.
“We are absolutely delighted with our results at the World Beer Awards 2024, with every beer entered getting a medal,” said brewery co-founder and brewing director, Colin Paige.
“For Frisby to win the best pilsner in the UK confirms something we always knew — what a special beer Frisby Lager is. For Underwater Song to win the world’s best strong porter again is a reflection of the hard work and dedication put in by Lara and our brewing team to brew Uncommonly Good Beer.”
