Traditional Farmhouse Ales are raw ales. This gives them many unique characteristics compared to regular beers.

One of the raw ales characteristics is that the protein remains undisturbed.
This makes them the traditional equivalent of a protein bar, and the nutrition raw farmhouse ales provide make them very useful during times of heavy labour.

It’s not something that gets a lot of attention but farmhouse beer expert Lars Marius Garshol and Simonas Gutautas (from Lithuanian craft brewery Dundulis) explained more about this during our 2 live beer webinars on Lithuanian Farmhouse Brewing.
