Mash Gang creates a buzz in the craft beer aisle

Alcohol-free specialist Mash Gang has gained a Morrisons listing for a new beer, but it will appear in the craft beer aisle, rather than on the alcohol-free shelves.

Mash Gang Northern Monk

Self-Titled, a 0.5% ABV American pale ale, is a collaboration with Northern Monk, and it marks Mash Gang’s first major supermarket listing. It comes in a 400ml can and has a holographic label.

“I don’t like the Dry January campaign,” said Mash Gang leader and brewer Jordan Childs. “I think it’s stupid, and I’m very vocal about that

“We’re inclusive. If you want to drink one of our beers and follow it up with an imperial stout, we’re not going to judge you. “It’s alcohol-free beer for people that don’t do alcohol-free beers.”

Mash Gang is a cuckoo, or nomadic brewer, collaborating with some of the biggest names in brewing and making alcohol-free beers that don’t compromise on flavour. It won best new brewery at the 2020 AF Beer Awards, just six months after its inception.

Northern Monk has been brewing out of a grade II listed abandoned mill building in Leeds since 2014. Its brand is built on the northern values of community and collaboration.
