Grimsby-based Docks Beer is tackling the climate crisis with the launch of Carbon Crush, a 5% ABV low-carbon IPA.

The beer is made in collaboration with CATCH, an industry-led partnership which is supporting the process, energy, engineering, and renewable industries in Docks Beers’ region.
It is spearheading the Humber’s efforts to lead the way in carbon capture and storage, and help to deliver net zero to the UK by 2040.
“We made this beer as low carbon as possible,” says the brewer. “We picked low-carbon hops from Brookhouse, who’ve pioneered a way to produce hops using ten times less carbon dioxide. Lincolnshire malt keeps the carbon footprint down.
“We’ve ended up with a finely tuned English-style IPA with a full-bodied malt canvas, allowing the low-carbon Chinook hops to shine. Juicy fruit flavours are tempered by a fine restrained bitterness with a clean finish.”
The artwork depicts a superhero, The Carbon Catcher, in a comic book style, to make the process of carbon capture and storage more accessible and engaging to a wider audience.
